User guide

An application dedicated to uploading and editing organisation or unit based templates. This app is designed with administrators in mind.

Creating and editing templates

Using the Template Handler it is possible to create templates for Newsroom Planner. These templates are then used in Newsroom Planner when creating new objects or as a base when a user creates their personal templates. When a template has been created using the application it is possible to edit existing templates from the three dots on the right side of each object.

When you start, you will most likely have an empty list, in this example we have both unit and organisation templates setup:

Start with using the "Create new template" button in the top right corner. You will get a menu with the available content types:

You will need to create one template for each content type you have configured in Newsroom Planner (There will always be at least three types to choose from: event/plan/assignment, but your setup might only need some of the options).

When you choose a template type, the template editor will open up.

In this view you can

  1. Give the template a name to be shown in the list

  2. Set sharing with either the organisation or with units you belong to

  3. If you need to make additional changes you do that using the editor provided by switching the Display editor toggle

The default template can be used "as is", or you can make changes to the template using the embedded Editor. Here it is technically possible to remove your current unit if you want to be able to create templates for other units than your own.

In the JSON editor, it also possible to change the default values for the different objects.

When working with the template handler basic metadata will be added to the document, such as a UUID, user information and your organisation/unit.

As a default, templates you create will belong to the unit you are logged into.

The Template Handler currently only support templates for Newsroom Planner. It does not handle personal templates.
