Release Guide
This document provides instructions for how to use the new features in the 2024.6 release, grouped by module. Remember to install & test in your test system before Production.

There is a new version of the InDesign Extension available (V. 2.3.1 ). For those who are licensed for the Extension, please put in a support ticket so that we can get the new extension over to you so that you can install it on your local machines that are using InDesign. See below for details on what is new.
There are a couple of GAM-related changes with this release as well. (GAM Line formatting, Key Value Copy/Paste, % Override Ad Server Quantity in Order Entry and Multiple Native Materials). Please check out the details below and instruct users accordingly so they know how the copy/paste works on Custom Targeting as well as understanding how to enter a % override for the qty that gets sent to GAM. The others will only affect you if you enable them in the setup.
If you use Fractional Columns in your display ads, please check out the bug fix mentioned below to ensure you have your system set up properly for the function.
Users will now see the order's sales rep on the list of contacts to send email confirmation/proposals to. See below for details.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR NYLAS USERS - Nylas will soon be deprecating their old API. To use the new Nylas Integration and for Nylas to be functional in 2024.6, there will be work for our hosting to do, work for your IT department to do on the email server, and users will need to re-authenticate and select desired sync folders - so we need to coordinate your upgrade. Please put in a support ticket before upgrading if you are currently using email sync with Nylas.
Advertising Module
In brand maintenance, it is possible to change a rep assignment to Assign in Order Entry by checking this flag here:

Prior to 2024.6, however, there wasn't an easy way to do that in bulk. For example, a rep is leaving the company and you are not going to re-assign their clients to another specific rep, but rather leave it open and assign in order entry to whomever has sold an order.
Navigate to Customers -> Brands -> Change Sales Rep Assignments. Select the current rep from the dropdown menu. (User may or may not be permitted to select an effective date depending on whether or not the system is configured to allow future rep assignments (Setting found in Setup -> Admin -> System Parameters)).
Select desired brands to change from the search results.
In previous versions, the available options were displayed at the bottom of the screen like this:

Now there is a popup. Select "Change Assignment for Selection"

If reassigning selections to a different rep, select a rep from the dropdown and answer the questions as to whether or not to Reassign future commissions and whether or not to replace the order rep on future order.
If changing to Assign in Order Entry, select that option, and all other options will gray out as they are not relevant if assigning in order entry
A few things to be aware of, which is also displayed on screen:
If a Brand assignment being changed was split with other reps, then all reps on that assignment will be cleared and it will be set to Assign in Order Entry. For example, a brand was shared 50-50 between Kelly and Wayne. User searched on Kelly and changed the brand to assign in Order Entry - that change is also applicable to Wayne's share as well and the entire assignment will be change to Assign in Order Entry
Any selected product overrides will be marked as disabled, since Assign in Order Entry is not applicable at the product level.
This will not change existing orders.
Production Reminders
Navigate to Production -> Production Reminders. A new column has been added to the report for Product Group

In addition, the Controller Assignment selection of "From Campaign" or "From Product" and the selected Production Controller will be remembered from how the report was last run, so that the user doesn't need to remember to select it each time if they generally run it with the same settings.
Navigate to Setup -> Admin -> Ad Server Integration Setup and select the Connection Setup Node. Select the desired Ad server from the dropdown.
There is a new option for Line Name Format in the GAM Connection setup. This one will display as "Line ID - Line Description".

For the following Campaign Line:

The following will come into GAM if the "Line ID - Description" selection is made in Ad Server Integration Setup:

When adding key value targeting to a campaign line, selecting from a very long list of items can be cumbersome for the users, so there is a new bulk entry option where they can type or copy/paste from a list.

Functionally, this is similar to the bulk entry available already on the Geo-targeting section.
To use, the user would click on the "Bulk Entry" link in the add custom targets pop-up. The bulk entry window appears:

User can type in this box or copy/paste from a list elsewhere. As an example, I copy and pasted from Excel:

Click Add Values button and this is the result:

Click Add Rule and the targeting will be added to the line:

Please note that the use case for this is for a client who is using Custom Targeting for Postal Codes to rather than use actual geo-targeting, so at this time, spaces are not supported in the values that are copy and pasted in.
In addition, this is just for new custom targets in order entry. It is not in Rate Maintenance and not for editing in order entry. If additional targets are desired later, the user can use the dropdown to manually select the additional targets. If bulk is needed again, copy what is listed in values already, delete the row, and re-create it by pasting the original targets plus the new ones in a new bulk entry window. In the clip below I open and existing ad, highlight the targeting and use Ctrl-C (Cmd-C) to copy to my clipboard. I then delete the existing target and then make it again by pasting the copied values back in, and then add in some more before saving it all.
When booking orders for Native ads, and using Ad Manager Templates functionality, a single size selected in order entry may actually need to translate into multiple material sizes according to the selected GAM Template. To support this concept, a new tab has been added to the Size code Setup, and a new flag has been added to the Material screen.
In Size setup, this new tab is displayed on all sizes, but only relevant to the Native Dimension type.

When booking the above creative size, only a single "Expected Size" is selected

But for production purposes, there are 4 creatives that actually need to be made up. So if the "Create Missing Material Sizes" button is selected, then the four sizes linked to the size setup will be added

In addition, what gets sent to GAM is just the single size called "Native Ad Content" in the example above, and what gets sent to Affinity is the 4 individual materials. The user will notice that on the material itself, there is a new field, which will be pre-selected on these types of native orders, so that the individual sizes are not sent to GAM but rather the size set on the "Expected Sizes" tab.

Once the materials are ready, they will need to be manually linked to the line in GAM though.
There has been an override quantity on order entry for quite a while now, which allows a user to override the number of impressions (or clicks/days/units) which goes to GAM. For example, the billing quantity may be 10,000 impressions, but there is a desire to send 11,000 over to GAM. There is also an override % on the ad type, which has been part of the system for a while as well. This will set a default for the ad type. For example, when booking a CPM line, perhaps the desire is to always send 105% of the impression count to GAM. In that case, if the user enters 10,000 the system will automatically set the override quantity to 10,500.
What is new on this release, is the ability to set an override % on the order. Using the above examples, suppose the ad type has an override % of 105. The user enters a line for 10,000 impressions, then the override quantity will be auto-calculated to 10,500. If the desire is to actually override the quantity to 11,000 for this line item (or 110%), the user previously would be able to do the math and override the quantity to 11,000 - BUT if the billing quantity was later changed - for example, they decide to extend the campaign and increase the quantity to, say 20,000 impressions, then the user would need to remember to edit the override impressions to maintain the same % as originally ordered.
Now there is a % field right next to the amount field. If the user enters 110% in the percent field, the override quantity will gray out and 11,000 will be calculated as the override amount to send to GAM. Then, later on, if the quantity is changed, the same override % will be maintained.

The benefit here, is that if the quantity on the pricing tab is changed, the desired line level override percent will be maintained without the user needing to make subsequent edits.
In GAM, there is a setting to allow or disallow clild directed ads

This option is now supported in Naviga ad as well. You will find it on the Campaign, on the ratecard setup as well as on the ratecard import/export.
If nothing is selected, "Don't serve on Child-directed requests" will be the default choice, but that can be overwritten on the rate cards and also on the campaign lines.

See Importing / Exporting Digital GAM Rates for details on how to import this new field.
Fractional Columns Correction
This is really more of a bug fix than a new feature, but wanted to call it out in case folks were using fractional columns improperly without realizing it.
Several releases ago, in Column Maintenance, we introduced the idea of having fractional columns.

By default, the fractional columns option will be set to whole columns. The admin user defines sizes in here so the system understands how wide to make the ad and to tell Plan what the ad size is as well. If fractionals are used, Layout maintenance can define sizes for ½ columns, quarter columns or tenth columns depending on how granular you allow the splits to be.
After this functionality was added, in order entry, the user should not have been allowed to enter fractional columns if the layout maintenance was defined to only allow whole columns, but they were. So this error has been fixed. If you wish to allow fractional columns, please ensure that you have defined your Layout Maintenance accordingly.
There was a request to add "Zone Import by Date Range" to the menus so that permissions could be granted to some users without allowing full access to Product Setup.
Navigate to Setup -> Insert Setup and see several insert-related items under this new menu group. Insert Rating Schedule, Page Types and Zone Dimension Setup also still exist under Advertising Setup like they always did, but having it here also may be convenient for the users who set up inserts.
Zones Import by Date is new as a menu item, but has existed previously in product setup. See Product Setup doc for info on using Zones Import by Date.

Navigate to Campaigns -> Edit a Campaign and click the magnifying glass next to the Campaign ID. The search window will open.

There are new search fields here for Created by and Created date range. This will search on the Create Date and created by on the Campaign - so it is searching these fields here:

When sending order confirmations and proposals, the rep on the order will now also be displayed for selection. There may be cases where the order entry user needs to send the confirmation to the rep for review prior to sending to the client, or perhaps just including them at the same time the order is sent to the customer.
Even if the Sales Rep is not a system user, their name and email address from rep setup will be included in the "Email To" selections.

Agency Listing - Client Type
A new optional column has been added to the Agency Listing report. Navigate to Customers -> Agency Listing, and notice that Client Type ID and Client Type are now columns in the report. These are optional, and if they aren't useful to you, they can be removed on the "Configure Output" tab.

Depending on preference and how useful your ID's are, the user may choose to show one or the other, or both.
Ranking Reports
The Advertiser and Agency Ranking Reports have been updated to allow for multi-select of Reps, Products, and Product Groups. In Prior Releases, the drop downs were like this:

In 2024.6, they are multi-select:

Material Management on Campaign
The Material Management screen will now display the color from the line item as an informational column in the grid:

This label comes from the color name on the line item here:

See a consolidated report of all your teams and the members on each team in an easy to see, filter, and export report. I think this one is going to be exciting to a lot of people.

Navigate to Setup -> Advertising Setup -> Ticket type setup. Select the Ticket teams node on the left and then click on the Report tab. This will show all teams and users who are on a team (including Reps who aren't users and the team they are on). This will save a lot of time looking through lists of teams to find users. Convenient Excel and pdf icons are on the top right for downloading the information.
Advertiser Portal
In the advertiser portal, the client has the option to send messages to internal users. When sending a message, there are types of messages that can be sent, which is selected from a "regarding" dropdown. The message might be regarding an invoice, a material, an order, etc. Depending on what is selected in the Regarding field, the next dropdown will change to a list of invoices, orders, etc, allowing the user to select which item they are inquiring about.

Sites may wish to limit the options in the "regarding" dropdown, so we have added the option to restrict messages to only certain types.
Navigate to Setup -> Admin -> Portal Setup -> Portal Setup. Select the desired profile and scroll down to the section titled "Message Center". The top section allows the user to select the message types they would like to offer, and move those to the right column using the arrows in the center:

With the restrictions selected, the regarding dropdown will only display the items in the right column under the "RESTRICT TO ONLY THESE" heading

Please note - this restricts the manual selection from the "regarding" dropdown on a manual message. On the list of orders screen, for future print orders and digital ads which haven't yet started, there is also a message function (Add/View comments) which will not be affected by this change. The goal of this mod was to limit the users confusion with too many options in that dropdown:

Classified Self-Service
In Classified Self Service package setup, there are several optional text boxes to describe the package to the end users:

Previously, if there was nothing entered into the Fine Print box, the empty, darker gray fine print box still displayed. Now we remove the box to improve appearance.

All Package boxes in a single row are intentionally the same size though, so to reclaim the space, all three (in the above example) would need to be without fine print, like so:

Accounts Receivable
Access Codes Added to Various Screens
The following will only be added for systems that are using access codes AND are set to use single valued access codes. All other systems will not see these new columns.
List of Accounts by Controller
When assigning controllers to accounts, there are four reports that may be in use: List of Accounts by Controller, List if Unassigned Accounts, Change/Reassign Controllers, and Assign by Aging. All four of these reports have a new column for Access Codes.

Customer Overview
In the dropdown to quick access recent accounts, users will now see Access Codes. They will see it whether they use this dropdown on the Sales CRM, Production, or other tabs.

Brand Detail
In Brand Maintenance, the Advertiser ID dropdown will also display the Access Codes (again, assuming the system is using Access Codes)

Additional fields now tracked in History
A couple of important fields were not being tracked in the History of Changes screen in Name and Address Maintenance. With 2024.6, these two are now recorded when changes are made.

This is more of a bug-fix than 'new feature' but thought it was worth calling out here, so that people are aware

The credit controller change will be recorded if it is changed manually on the account OR if it is changed in bulk using the credit control module "Assign Controller" bulk functions.
CRM Module
Rep Performance Order Detail has new columns
The Rep Performance details got a new column and some hyperlinks to make life just a little easier.
To get to the below screen, from the "My Performance" or the CRM Manager Home Screen, click on order hyperlinks from the 12 Month Peformance Tab:

Clicking on any of those hyperlinks will take the user to a list of orders matching that criteria:

Previously, the list of orders did not have a hyperlink to easily open the order, and it only showed Order Line ID's and not Campaign IDs. Now we display both and hyperlink both so the user can either get to the campaign or to the individual line.
InDesign Extension
While not officially tied to 2024.6 release, there is a new InDesign Extension version available. If you are licensed for the InDesign Extension, please put in a support ticket so we can get the latest version, V. 2.3.1 over to you. This version solves a couple of bugs that were reported.
The previous extension had an issue where a text component could not be loaded onto the place-gun with a double click action, like an image component could. This caused an issue with adding a text file into a pre-defined text box on the indd document. If the text file is simply drag and dropped onto the indd doc, the text box will be auto-created at full width of the ad. If you wish to drop the text in a pre-formatted box, then the correct procedure is to first create the text box, then double click on the text file from the component list, and then single click into the box that you just created. Here is a short video showing both ways in action:
The second issue that was resolved with this extension version is when selecting the "get latest from server" option, the extension was opening an older version and not truly the latest due to a caching issue. There were a few other caching issues internal to naviga ad where the preview wasn't refreshing promptly if the user had already viewed the older version - that has also been resolved with 24.6 and patched back to 24.5.
