Working with Production Controllers

A Production Controller can be assigned to a product, brand, and/or product group and is the main filter on the Production by Controller report (Production -> Production by Controller). The other Production reports have the controller as a secondary filter and as a column to be displayed in the search results.

The Production controller on the brand and on the product group are related to the campaign header. The controller on the Brand will override the product group's production controller. The controller on the header is important because it is a required field to allow the campaign to flow to GAM.

The Production controller on the product is related to the line items. This controller isn't important to GAM, but it is generally important for production tracking of materials. This one comes from Product Setup. This is beneficial if there are different production controllers for each product and you would like to keep track of production progress and details by product.

Prerequisite Setup

  • Create production workflow setup for the product. (Navigate to the menu Setup -> Production Workflow Setup)

  • Navigate to the menu Setup -> Product Setup and choose the product from the drop-sown menu in the “Product Details” node. Click the tab “Campaign Parameters” and choose the production controller name from the drop-down menu of “Default Production Controller”. Click on the save button.

  • Navigate to the menu Setup -> Product Group Setup and choose the group from the drop-down menu Click the tab “Campaign Parameters” and choose the production controller name from the drop-down menu of “Default Production Controller”. Click on the save button.

Once controllers are set on the brand (if desired), Product Group, and Product, you can book orders for these products and see the controller populate on the various "Production by ..." Production Reports.
