In order to make a good planning ahead, you have the opportunity to add future events to the calendar. From these, you then create a planning with assignment.

You post all the interesting events in the calendar. They will then be presented in the calendar view for events. To these events, you can then create plans that are linked to each event. The looks on each event in the calendar view, color and icons, depends if you have created any planning for the events or not.
