When you are in the Content area of the Writer you can add images by Drag and Drop or by the Pen -> Upload image

The maximum size of images are configured by administrators and is specific for the environment. The default maximum size is 30 MB but can be set to a custom value in the configuration for Writer Backend. There is also a hard cap at 100 MB, images larger than this will not be uploaded.

Supported file types:".jpg", ".jpeg", ".png", ".gif" are the default values if unset in the configuration.

"data": {
        "imageFileExtension": [".jpg", ".jpeg", ".png", ".gif"],

Image display in the content area in Writer

The image display size is set in the Help menu.

When the image is selected you get to an edit mode for the information about the image, which is the info about the image in the article. You use the fields to enrich the article with information about the image.

When you change the text in the fields in the image dialog it will not be reflected as changes in the image archive info (compare with Image Archive Information below).

When the image is selected you also see the buttons for image archive info, download the image, and do a manual crop. See the following sections.

Image archive information

Info about the image in the archive

If you change the info about the image in the Image Archive Information dialog, you will change the info that is stored with the image. A change here will not be reflected afterward on the image in the article.

Source and Copyright were added as fields and Image Description was changed to Description in Naviga Writer version 6.5.0.

Photo date is not possible to edit. It is displayed from XMP, IPTC, or EXIF data of the image.

Download

Download the image to your desktop.

Cropping images

To get to the cropping tool, select the image. The preset cropping settings are defined in the settings managed by the administrators of the Writer system. You see the original image, the cropping alternatives, in the example: 16:9, 3:2 and 1:1.

If the image holds a defined photographer, it will show on the first row. Second is the caption text. The third is a demo field, that shows the opportunity to add other fields, just as in the teaser.

Focal point

When you open the crop dialog I see a choice about "Use focal point" to the left below the crops.

When you select "Use focal point" you see a square with a dot in the middle of the photo. This is to show that the focus point is placed here right now.

Move the square with the cursor on top of the photo, you will see a cross. This indicates that you can choose another focal point. When you have chosen my focal point I click. The square is now moved to where I clicked.

Click on the image where you want to have the focal point.

All the crops is now adjusting to the new focal point so you can see the result before you click on Crop.

If you want to cancel your focal point, remove the select box of "use focal point" and the focus point will be in the middle of the photo again.

When you are done you click on the button crop and this focal point instead of the one in the middle of the photo will be used.

Using the cropping tool

You get to the cropping tool by pressing the cropping-symbol (if there are croppings, they are presented with a number).
