Channels to control access

Tech description of access control via organization, unit and publication channels.

There are now some functions to control acess to articles and concepts in Writer and Dashboard. This is very new functionality, so in comming releases it will probably change to some extent in the user interface.

The set up is focused on the unit that you belong to in you organization . A unit can correspond to any organizational unit in your organization , such as the publication that the user is part of, for example "South News" or "North News" within the organization.

The content that is created by a user will always belong to the unit of that user. The access can not be changed, it is only possible to add access.

With the help of smart configuration, the units will be the same as publication channels in you Writer set up and thereby you will be able to share the articles between publication channels the same way as you have done in earlier versions.

You can also have a configuration that give you the possiblity to share the article with the organization. For large organizations that will lead to access for everbody that is working in the organization. For small organizations, organization and unit may be the same or that there is only two units in the organization.
