Importing Sections and Positions

Import Section

You can import sections to the product. The fields which are bold are mandatory while the yellow highlighted must be filled with values preset in Naviga. If you have already created (or imported) sections, you can use the import to overwrite/update what is already there.

Bold fields are mandatory while non bold aren’t. Yellow highlighted fields must contain values which match the value already setup in Naviga Ad.

Template to Import Sections

Product

This is a mandatory field and its value must be already in Naviga AD as the print or digital product in which the Ad is created.

Section ID

This is mandatory to enter as the new Section ID you’d like to import.

Section Name

This is mandatory to enter as the new Section description you’d like to import.

Section URL

This is an optional field. Enter URL for this section if desired

Inactive

This is optional. Set to Y is Yes. Set to N or leave blank to not be inactive

Only Used on Ratecards

This is optional. If this section can only be selected from a Ratecard, enter Y here. If it can be selected manually, leave blank or enter N.

Restriction Start Dates

This is optional. If used, dates will append to any dates already on the section. Separate lines by semi-colons. This field imports into the first field in this grid. For example, if I was updating the above section to include several date ranges for 2024, I might enter in 7/5/2024;7/12/2024.

Restriction End Dates

This is optional. If used, dates will append to any dates already on the section. Separate lines by semi-colons. This field imports into the second field in this grid. For example, if I was updating the above section to include several date ranges for 2024, I might enter in 7/10/2024;7/15/2024 This would be the "after" if I entered these two start dates and end dates:

Published Day(s)

This is optional. If you limit this section to only certain days of the week, enter valid days of week here. If multiple, separate by semi-colons. Valid values are MO;TU;WE;TH;FR;SA;SU. If published every day, this field can be blank.

Override Layout ID

This is optional, but if used must match a Layout ID setup in Layout Maintenance. (Setup -> Advertising Setup -> Column Layout Maintenance)

Import Position

Using the given template, you can import positions in bulk to the product whether it’s a print or digital product. Once you download the template and save the data in each field as needed, it is recommended to test the import before importing. The system will alert you to errors in template values so you can correct and then re-upload the corrected template.

If you are also entering Sections for these positions, be sure to do that Import first. If you have already created (or imported) positions, you can use the import to overwrite/update what is already there

Template to Import Positions

Some of the fields listed are as follows:

Product

This is a mandatory field and its value must be already in Naviga AD as the print or digital product in which the Ad is created.

Section

If the product is configured to have positions defined by section, then this is a mandatory field and its value must match the section already defined in the product. If positions are not by section, then this is not mandatory.

Position ID

This is mandatory to enter as the new position ID you’d like to import.

Position Name

This is mandatory to enter as the new position description you’d like to import.

Size

This is an optional field and only relevant for Digital Products, but its value must be matching the defined values in the menu Setup -> Advertising Setup -> Size Setup -> size ID.

Is Inactive

This is optional. Set to Y is Yes. Set to N or leave blank to not be inactive

Inventory Type

Inventory types are: “N” for None; “I” for Impressions; “S” for Sponsorship/Tenancy and "V" for Share of Voice. Only relevant for Digital Products.

Oversell Qty

Only relevant for Digital Products with Sponsorship Inventory Type.

Sellout Warning Qty

Only relevant for Digital Products with Sponsorship Inventory Type.

Sellout Warning %

Only relevant for Digital Products with Impression Inventory Type. Enter whole number (example "25" for 25%)

Sellout Warning % by Order

Only relevant for Digital Products with Impression Inventory Type. Enter whole number (example "25" for 25%)

Pages Priority

Only relevant for Print Products. This is optional and the values must be from Naviga Ad.

“0” to “5“ for Page Priority 0 (or blank) = Any Page 1 = Absolute Page 2 = Relative Page 3 = Early 4 = Front Half 5 = Back Half

Pages Quadrant

Only relevant for Print Products. This is optional and the values must be from Naviga Ad. “0” to “8” for Page Quadrant. 0 (or blank) = Anywhere 1 = Top 2 = Left 3 = Bottom 4 = Right 5 = Top Left 6 = Top Right 7 = Bottom Left 8 = Bottom Right

Pages Positions

Only relevant for Print Products. This is optional and the values must be from Naviga Ad. “0” to “2” for Page Position. 0 (or blank) = Don't Care 1 = Left Hand Page 2 = Right Hand Page

Requested Page Number

Only relevant for Print Products. Must be a whole number (+ or -). A + number will be an actual page number. (Example 2 for Page 2). A - number will be relative to the back of the book or section. (Example -1 is back page, -2 is inside back cover). If page priority is Absolute page, this number will be from the entire book. If the page priority is Relative, it will be relative to the section (Example Back Page of News)

Is Guaranteed

Only relevant for Print Products. Optional Field. Enter Y for Yes.

Max Ad Count

Only relevant for Print Products or Issue-based Digital Products. Entering a quantity in this field allows you to control the maximum number of ads that can be sold on this Position on a single issue/date. A blank or zero value will effectively not enforce this rule. If used with Print products, Max Pages is first checked, and if set to a value greater than zero, this rule is applied if there is adequate Page Eq remaining. *If max pages is blank, and this is a print product, this field will be ignored.*

Max Pages Allowed

Only relevant for Print Products. Enter a number here, up to 3 decimals are allowed for fractional pages.

Only Used On Ratecards

Only relevant for Print Products. Enter Y for Yes. Enter N or leave Blank for no.

Conflicting Positions

Only relevant for Print Products. Enter ID of conflicting Positions. Conflicting positions refers to advertisers of the same industry code will conflict if placed in these positions. For example, if this Position is Page 2, you might not allow an advertiser in the same industry to select page 3.

Published Day(s) of Week

If this position is only valid on certain days of the week, enter those days here (2-Character format). Leave blank for the position to be valid any day that the Product and/or Section is valid. Separate multiple entries with a comma. Example: MO,TU,WE,TH,FR,SA,SU
