The Properties Panel

Describing the basic functionality of the properties panel. This panel is mandatory for editing the elastic properties of an article template.

Selecting frames

Make sure that the plugins are installed. See Installation for further information.

The panel used for editing elastic properties is being found in InDesign under the menu Window -> Extensions -> Elastic Layouts/Naviga Templates.

The panel is empty when it is opened and no frames on the page are selected.

The Elastic Properties UI panel without any selected frames.

When selecting frames on the page they will appear as objects in the left part of the panel.

Selected frames will appear in the panel.

Then, clicking on one of the objects in the panel, will highlight the frame on the page and vice versa.

Clicking on a frame in the panel will highlight the frame on the page.

If multiple frames are selected on the page they will all appear in the panel. This is a very convenient feature when you are editing a complete article template and want to maintain an overview.

With a frame selected it is now possible to set the elastic properties on that specific frame. This is done using the right side of the panel. There are a number of elastic properties to select among and they are described in a separate chapter, Elastic properties.

Note that changes of elastic properties are stored immediately on the frame.

Start the elastic process

The elastic process can be started by clicking the Run button in the properties panel or by assigning a keyboard shortcut, but it can also be initiated thru a script API.
