# Text management

## Global text macros

There are several ways to have impact on the text, when you are writing. Many things are configurable so if you experience that you miss a typical character or that there often are misstakes, this may be configurable.

Examples are the characters for Quotion and Dashes:

You can for example replace a straight double quote into either a left typographical quote or a right typographical quote depending on whether it is a closing or opening quote, or replace a straight single quote into a right single quote.

You can also replace on a certain position. For example replace a minus with a longer dash if the minus is the first character in a paragraph.

If you need to replace certain characters for others this is set up in the Character transformation plugin. See more tech details and configuration [here](https://plugins.writer.infomaker.io/).

The information about text in the written article is found under the ["information"-button](/writer/6.2.2/user-guide/user-guide/the-content-area-and-tabs/information-button.md) in the bottom bar.
