Auto size and push

Naviga Templates version 2.1 and later offers functionality to automatically resize for example headline frames to fit multi row headlines. It also pushes any conflicting frames downwards while resiz.

When creating a layout you might want to use a design that looks different depending on whether the headline needs one or more rows. You might for example have an image right below the headline that needs to be moved downwards. Below is an example of how to use the property Auto size and push to solve this.

The layout has a one row headline, but the text doesn't fit on one row.

In the properties list there is a setting that could be activated for the headline frame. Then, when Naviga Templates is activated, the headline frame will expand until the headline text is no longer over-set.

Setting for "Auto size and push"

During the expansion, the headline frame (in the example) will conflict with the image frame and as a result push the image frame accordingly. The image frame in its turn will need to push both the caption frame and also the drop head frame.

In this example a number of frames will need to be pushed.

The result is a two line headline frame and pushed frames before the elastic operation is performed.

The result.

The "Auto size and push" operation is being performed as a pre process to the rest of the operation, so the actual elastification is being done without any overset headline.

Note: remember to turn off the "Fit content to frame" option for the headline frame since that will conflict with Auto size and push.
