Change image ratio

From version 2.0 there is a new option when resizing frames: Ratio adjustment limit.

Example - changing image ratio

In the following example focus will be on an option called Ratio adjustment limit (available from version 2.0).

Below is an article layout that before any processing looks like this:

Before.

The article is overset and the image needs to be shrinked to make the body text fit. Traditionally this will be done proportionally and the result would be like this:

After.

The image needed to be changed from three columns to one to make the article copy fit. This creates a lot of empty space that needs to be compensated by increasing the size of the quote frame and also adding some rows before the byline in this example.

To handle this kind of situation you can use the option Ratio adjustment limit on the image to make the height of the image be adjusted. The unit is set in % to have the same effect regardless of the image size. The steps are always performed by adjusting according to the baseline grid.

In the example we will now use the setting to allow adjusting the image ratio up to 15%.

Setting the ratio adjustment to 15% in this example.

This will give a whole new result after processing:

Now the article fits perfectly in the article layout.
