Restack

Restacking ads manually

You can manually restack several ads very quickly.

To restack ads manually

  1. Do one of the following:

    • Shift-click to select the ads you want to restack.

    • Use another selection method. See Selecting and grouping objects Note: The ads will restack in the order in which you select them.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Choose Layout -> Restack.

    • Press Alt-K (Windows) or Option-K (Mac OS). The selected ads disappear from the layout.

  3. Move the cursor. The first ad appears under the cursor and moves with it.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • To place the ad at a specific point, click the point. If you click the left half of the column, the ad snaps to the left edge of the column. If you click the right half of the column, the ad snaps to the left edge of the next column to the right.

    • To place the ad at the bottom of a column, Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) the bottom half of the page. If you click the left half of the column, the ad snaps to the bottom and left edge of the column. If you click the right half of the column, the ad snaps to the bottom and left edge of the next column to the right.

    • To place the ad at the top of a column, Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) the top half of the page. If you click the left half of the column, the ad snaps to the top and left edge of the column. If you click the right half of the column, the ad snaps to the top and left edge of the next column to the right. Important: If you place an ad over another ad, that ad will snap off the placed ad and into the nearest appropriate space. This means that any ads on the page that are overlapped will snap to whether they are a part of the restack or not.

  5. The next ad appears under the cursor.

  6. Move the cursor to the next point and click or Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS).

  7. Continue until all the ads are placed. The cursor returns to normal.

  8. To undo the restacking, do one of the following:

    • Choose Edit -> Undo Restack.

    • Press Ctrl-Z (Windows) or Command-Z (Mac OS).
