Save and publish flow

To save or change publish state on your article you use the blue button. When you have unsaved changes in your article you see a star on on the button.

The draft article

When you first start your article and save it, it will be saved as a draft.

Draft alternatives

Depending on your configuration, you will have different alternatives. The dialog above shows a common set up of the Save- and publish dialog.

Ready for approval: sets the status to “Ready for approval”, which you can use to have a approval process.

Set a publish time in the future, and then select the Scheduled publication option. The article will be published on the set time. If you forget to set the time and click the Schedule publication before, you find that a valid publication time is missing.

Publish Now: You can also select Publish Now, which will set the publish date and time to now. This will normally publish anything.

After publishing the article

After publishing the article the save and publish button will change and instead show the published alternatives:

Published alternatives

When a story have been published, you will have a few other options:

Update: Will save and publish your changes without changes to timestamps. Your changes will also be reflected in the published version.

Re-publish: Will publish changes, and also change timestamps to “Now”.

Save new draft: This will let you make changes and saving your story without the changes being published. When you want to publish your changes, choose any of the Publishing alternatives that are described under Draft Alternatives above.

Unpublish: Will unpublish the article and put it back to unpublished state..

Duplicate current article

With this option you will get a new article based on the current article. The settings on the copy can be configured to keep or have the metadata fields cleaned.

Configuration

The configuration sets up the names of the Workflow items in the Publishing flow (as the states mention above Ready for approval, Publish now etc) and what the state will transition to. The transitions will give the next state is for example Published after Publish now.

Examples of different publication flows is further desribed i the admin guide in chapter Publish Flow.

This configuration has several dependencies to the set up of your environment as you need to be able to handle both a draft and a published version. The dependencies are described here in the plugin documentation. Latest version of the Publish flow plugin is found here in the plugin documentation. https://plugins.writer.infomaker.io/
